After I found out about DMSO and read a study on it, I became very interested.
Dimethyl sulfoxide therapy in subjective tinnitus of unknown origin
I read two books on DMSO and brought the study with me to discuss it with my doctor. Once I confirmed that my current medication would not be affected by using DMSO, I decided to try it myself. I also visited an audiologist to get a baseline hearing test and informed her of my plan.
I purchased 99.99% pharmaceutical-grade DMSO and diluted it with distilled water to a 20% DMSO and 80% water mixture. I also bought a roll-on applicator containing a 70% DMSO and 30% aloe solution. I started by putting a couple of drops of the 20% solution into my right ear, which has been worse, and then applied the 70% solution to the right side of my neck and shoulder. After that, I rubbed Mannatech's Emprizone gel over the same area. The next day, I repeated the process on the left side.
After a few days, I decided to apply the ear drops twice daily. I now use them after my morning shower and again after work. However, I only apply the solution to my neck and shoulder once per day.
The study mentioned administering something to reduce inflammation and improve blood circulation. I have been taking supplements from Alovea for years. Their supplement Limitless acts as an anti-inflammatory, while both Immun and Balance contain aloe. Emprizone also contains aloe, so I believe I am covering that part of the study protocol.
After eight days, I have noticed much more fluctuation in the ringing in my ears. Previously, the ringing in my right ear was loud and constant. Now, the volume periodically decreases. It is hard to say for certain, but it also seems that the peaks are not as loud as before. The ringing appears to be more pronounced on the days I apply drops to the other ear.
I hope this is a positive sign and that continued use will eventually eliminate the tinnitus. I will keep you posted.
