      So I haven't had T for very long. In the beginning I was distraught and crying all the time feeling sick and awful.

      The last couple of weeks I have been OK... i have been waking up not worrying, working OK, socialising OK and doing normal things. I have been put on some anti anxiety tablets which I think has helped and also have a while noise generator in my ear. I can still hear the T all the time but was less bothersome...

      ... until today... I just felt a massive wave of emotion and burst into tears. All my fears came back that i couldn't cope, I would be like this forever and that T was going to destroy my life. I think I'm more upset that I was doing so well. I don't know thaws happened today :(

      Hopefully I wake up tomorrow with a better outlook

      @caffclifton

      Your story sounds like my story. I go weeks where I feel like I'm making steady progress towards habituation then BAM, for some reason my T is back front a center of my mind and bothers me every second of the day. Today, for example, I'm really fixating on it for some reason.

      I've been dealing with this for a few months now and I know I'll be fine eventually, it just times time. When that doubt or anxiety creeps back into your mind the T can really take over.

      When I'm having a tough day (like today) I just have to force myself to get through it even if it sucks. Go to work, go for a jog, have drink with friends. Do whatever you normally do. It will help you feel like you're not letting T win.

      @washashore thanks for your reply. I know deep down I will be fine and I'll just get on with it but it's just annoyed me how well I was doing. I thought I wouldn't feel this low again then all of a sudden today it's hit me.

      Kind of makes you feel like your not making progress anymore and I have been so proud of myself the last few weeks for being so strong and just getting back to normal

      No worries guys! you will get better.. it's just a silly sound in the end, mine is very new and for every day that goes by i'll get more and more used to it.. Think about it, nothing has really changed? has it? you can still work, be social, listen to music, having fun in general! ok, we would have to use earplugs when noises are too loud, but in the end everyone should do that..

      When you have these days, just think about how many in the world that has tinnitus, and some even worse than yourself... and most of those have learned to live with it!

      We are the masters of our life, don't let a stupid T sound ruin your life... that's what i've learned for the past 3-4 weeks.

      Hang in there guys!

      Sidenote: All the studies going on will (in my opinion) give us a cure someday! maybe in a few years? ;)

      It sounds like you've made a ton of progress it a short time. Setbacks do suck but they are to be expected. Hang in there and I'll do the same.

      Hey @caffclifton: Glad things are better now. Having rough days, and feeling like you aren't getting anywhere, is very normal. I felt like that all the time in the beginning. Still do now, every now and then. Like you, when I had those days, I would think: I am not getting any better. Why am I not making progress? But I was. I just didn't realize it. You are making progress, too, a lot of it.

      Absolutely right. It's all about attitude, and your's sounds on the mark, Christian.

      When I was a boy, I could laugh so hard my sides and cheeks would hurt. It was a medicine, those moments, which came most from watching comedians on the Ed Sullivan show. A hard life prior to T making its appearance in '72, and then T's entrance into my life, seems to have melted away whatever funny bone I once had. But I am at least longing for its return, and think there's a pretty good chance of it showing up again.
