Has Anyone on Here Taken Depakote and Lamictal Together?

Back in 2003, I was told by a doctor to take Lamictal and Depakote because he said I was bipolar II.

He said that Depakote was a mood stabilizer but also an anti-manic medication that would help keep me from having "highs".

At this point, I was feeling pretty good and thought why in the world would I want to have that happen?

It's not like I ever had mania or anything, I just liked having energy plus I didn't want to consider myself bipolar II and instead went to another doctor, told him I was depressed and he gave me an anti-depressant.

After countless mood swings, an anti-depressant giving me tinnitus and numbing me out at times, I clearly made a stupid mistake in my youth. If I could go back again, I think I would try that combination. I have been taking Lamictal for a year now.

After doing some research and thinking about it, it would be worth a chance and in theory makes sense though for Depakote especially, if I could take the lowest dose that would work for me. I know it will probably have some side effects but the one I am most concerned with is it affecting tinnitus.

My tinnitus was increased some by benzo tolerance but it seems I need benzos to keep me from being "too agitated". Its kind of hard to explain. Its like an intense focus on certain things, not necessarily a classic depression or anxiety issue and no increased heart beat or outward physical signs but mentally intense stimulation and the top my brain feels "unrelaxed".

I know it sounds weird but hard to put into words. Its possible part of that is due to a half withdrawal of benzo's or too much Lamictal, but I am not sure.

I think Depakote might help with that.

At any rate, I am curious to know has anyone who has had benzo tolerance taken Depakote or Depakote plus Lamictal and it had an effect on their T?

If not, has anyone had T and taken this combination and if so what happened? Thanks for your help guys!

Other alternatives I think that might could help would be reducing Lamictal more than I have or increase cardio exercising (which probably would be a great idea)

Actually, I probably have cyclothymia, not bipolar II, but still somewhat similar in the sense I have ups and downs.
