My GP doctor prescribed me six days taper down methylprednisolone to treat my tinnitus spike.

Today is day 1 (6 tablets 4mg each).

I am not sure if it really can treat my tinnitus spike (by acoustic trauma).

Does anyone know how many days after starting the treatment I will know if it works or not? Will I feel the spike subside?

I don't have experience with taking steroids for spikes, but i think to expect a change in a day is probably a bit premature. Id wait it out a bit longer.

I know of 3 people whose tinnitus significantly improves or disappears when on steroids, so I am quite confident for some, where inflammation is present, steroids do work.

There are threads on here about this. Have you flicked through those to see if someone has made some relevant comments to your concerns? Maybe too, check that you are on an adequate dose? Did you mean you are taking 24mg a day?
