I haven’t been here in a while, thankfully I’ve coped much better now with my hyperacusis and tinnitus.

I am thinking of buying a speed boat which has the engine outboard. I’ve been trying to search for information on how loud it is in terms of decibels, but can’t find sufficient information. I already made a pair of customized silicone ear plugs to fit perfectly to my ears that reduces by 20 decibels of noise .

Does any one have any information on just how loud it can be?

I don't know the dB, but I can tell you 2 years ago I went out on a friend's speed boat for the day. My tinnitus had faded to the point it was totally manageable, and I was getting out and doing things again. I wore earplugs on and off, so not the whole time.

I experienced a spike that lasted about 2 weeks, and never went on the boat again.
