Is a panoramic machine from the dentist to check TMD/J loud? How many decibels? Should I be worried? Wear earplugs?? Not do it??

Thank you :)

I had one two years ago, before I got the tinnitus. It is not loud at all. The only sound is a low mechanical one as the machine goes around the head, and it is quiet. I doubt you would need earplugs for it, and the test takes less than a minute. I would not hesistate to get one today if needed, and would not wear earplugs to do it now.

For me it was a quiet whirr. Unless your hospital is using equipment from 50 years ago, you'll be fine.

Hmm... I am now convinced to do it, thank you! I appreciate it! It doesn't vibrate? Just a low sound?

That used to be my job.

Every machine is different. Most modern units still emit high pitch sound but not as piercing as older ones.

Some even play music but I never worked on one of those.

Exposure takes around 10-20 seconds but I would definitely advice on earplugs.

The source of sound is basically going at very close proximity around your head and you don't know how loud machine is so better to be safe.

Donald Trump's uncle invented the first million volt x-ray tube, because he had Nikola Tesla's documents. Go look that one up.

Thank you for your information. I feel much better on doing it now. I will definitely use my earplugs, thank you! :)

I had a test to check my jaw alignment later this week. It was called ( if I'm not mistaken ) lateral cephalometry. Donnow if that's what you are asking about! Anyway it was almost silent. Just a quiet ( IMO safe ) noise. Nothing to be worried about except for the x-ray!
