      Hello there,

After quite a hardsome time I'm not hearing the tinnitus 80% of the time, when I'm around people or in public.

I still have days where it's louder, but the trend is me hearing the tinnitus only when I'm at home alone.

Is this a mild tinnitus? I still have trouble with it and getting trt next month, but that is not the point here.

I've had luck that the tinnitus is improving, because in the early days I could hear it over everything.

Also i would thank you for the editing that my posts are understandable, that is awesome!

If you made an improvement, there is a good chance that you will continue improving. When T improves, you notice it only on a month-to-month basis (not on a daily or weekly basis).

I think "mild T" refers to T that is annoying (as opposed to debilitating). Sounds like you have mild T now.

What do you mean debilitating? Its a sound at tbe end at the day so i am just curious. Absolutely no denying it can be horrible for some people but i am just looking for further insight.

During the first month, I found my T to be debilitating. Basically, T reminded me of itself every 15 seconds or so (literally), so I could not think about anything else. Well, as it happens there was one more thing that I could think about besides T - suicide. That's pretty debilitating.

I think that when T is loud and piercing enough, one can't habituate to it.

When you say it reminded you of it often do you mean when you were in silence? Or it was audible over everything? E.g running tap

I heard it over everything (I heard it when I drove in a car on a highway). As soon as my mind would wonder and begin thinking about something other than T, I would become of aware of an annoying sound, and my first thought would be to do something to make it stop.

Thanks Bill, interesting. Sometimes i can hear it faintly when driving, but at home i can mask it with purple noise from my iphone on volume level 2. Guess its a matter of certain frequencies cover it better ect.

I don't know. I have been told on here that mine is very mild. While it isn't terribly loud it is very high pitch so many times I can hear it VERY faintly if I really try even out and about in medium loud areas. Is that mild? I don't know.

Everyone handles their T different. I only have it on my right ear, I'd say it's mild but I'm still having a hard time as well.

I'd say mine is fairly mild too, and I'm really struggling, even though it's been almost six months. I think that I could probably handle it if all the random earaches and pains would go away, because currently they're a constant reminder.

Has it always been not very loud? Or has it been getting fainter and fainter and then stopped getting fainter?

Mine is what I'd call pretty severe (quite piercing, can hear it over pretty much everything), however I've managed to habituate to an extent as I can go hours without noticing it when I'm really engrossed in a task. Quiet times are the worst, especially evenings, because my T is so much more noticable.

Glad to hear it went down for you, mild t to me i would think would be the tv or a fan masking it completely.

I would consider mine more piercing than loud. Mine is around 10 or 11kHz, so it's above most of the stuff on TV and ambient sounds. I can hear it pretty much anywhere but in the shower or a sufficiently noisy restaurant. Even when it is completely volume-masked, I can still "feel" it, if that makes any sense.

Mine is pretty mild too. I can't hear it when i watch tv or out and about.
Sometimes it even dissapears. I treasure those moments so much.

I can't deal with mild t either. I probably would'nt care so much if i only had Tinnitus during the day, but the nights make it absolute torture. I just can't handle any noise during the night.
I miss those nights that i can plug my ears and enjoy absolute silence.

I see what you mean, i play low pink noise from my phone to mask it when I watch tv. I do find id odd that the masking noise doesn't annoy me and is more intense than my t. Yet if i hear the t when watching tv it will aggravate me.

Edit: actually the above depends on my mood. Usually after a day of work i will mask, but on a weekend after a long sleep my t is so soft i dont need to mask.

Sleep is definitly crucial. AS i woke up today the t was kinda soft but during the Day it become the normal pitch etc.

I agree, I consider mine mild, fan can mask it, I usually don't hear it when outdoors. But I do hear it over TV. I think if one does not hear it over TV it can be considered as very mild

What if you play pink noise or some nature sounds in the background for sleeping? I actually feel the best in the evenings when I get to bed, sleeping time gives a couple of hours relief from T.

I meant outdoors in the city when there are cars passing by etc. In a totally quiet street or in the quiet countryside I would also hear mine.

I play cricket sounds or rain sounds in the background. It helps me sleep but i rather sleep in silence. I always used to plug my ears every night because i can't handle noise very well. And than to get T. It's a nightmare i hope to wake up from soon. I always used to sleep on my side, but now when i hold my ear against the pillow i hear this loud ringing sound. It actually makes me feel sick sometimes :(. I wish i could look forward to bedtime but i really don't. I'm happy that it gives you some relief.

Well what I can advise is try to control your emotional reaction to T, for example I hear it but I'm ok with it, it doesn't stress me. I practice this everyday for over 2 years since my onset, it's not a magical cure but makes T more livable. Plus I mask 24/7, pink noise or rain sounds.
