How did they find this? It is important only for hearing protection, not healing a damaged cochlea. Nevertheless, many questions rise from it: What about the temporary damage to the cochlea that needs immediate administration of corticosteroids in order to prevent a permanent damage? What do we prevent then? The hormone release?
Perhaps this ATP hormone is released permanently after long exposure hence the alleged cochlea damage? Should it then be reversed by stopping the release of this hormone?
I thing this research provokes more questions than answers...
Anyway, hope it leads to something instead of being another hearing research that will soon be forgotten.
