Yes it is, but what doesn’t break us makes us stronger eh.... I know you will power through this even when it seems like it will take us out we need to just keep swimming.

You made me laugh, Jcb. Here I was trying to be all introspective and stuff, given my not so good day yesterday. You had to go and spoil it all (thankfully ) with your kind and generous sense of humor.

 

I know I can’t help myself but I do like that quote.

 

I used to dislike being sensitive. I thought it made me weak. But take away that single trait, and you take away the very essence of who I am. You take away my conscience, my ability to empathize, my intuition, my creativity, my deep appreciation of the little things, my vivid inner life, my keen awareness of others pain and my passion for it all.

I am also a Highly Sensitive Person. However, this trait has nothing to do with my creativity, intuition, and vivid inner life. I wish I were to lose this trait so that I could be freed from the other things on your list.

 

See, we are all so vastly different from one another, aren't we Bill? I want to embrace my sensitivity and you wish to be freed from yours. Unfortunately we do share the bully that is tinnitus. I hope you are coping as best as you can. As you know, I am a one day at a time person and today is okay. I am enjoying watching Tiger Woods at the Masters, he is so close to the win.

Hello, Once! All is well, thank-you for asking. Preparing for the Easter weekend, family will arrive later today. I actually just started an afghan, in fact only four rows completed. It is certain to take me deep into the summer, lol! I love the shade of the yarn, it is a soft, denim blue. The stitch is the basic SC, but I am crocheting in the back loops only.

Yes, just doing some yard work... got like 8 splinters so far!
Why do they have to hurt so much!?..lol
Everything is blooming so fast this Spring!

I will be starting on another Irish Rose Afghan as my sister loved it and MUST have...lol.
She loves everything Shabby-Chic so it will look beautiful in her home.

 

It will take forever. If it starts to get too tedious I can always make it into an infinity scarf, which I have done before, lol!

Splinters, oh no, I feel your pain, it has happened to me. Did you manage to get them out? Your sister must be so appreciative, you did an amazingly beautiful job on that afghan. You are very generous, Once.

May I show this to you? I just completed the set a few days ago. I am starting to crochet Christmas gifts already. This is what gave me the idea for the afghan, the hat was done in the same stitch that I am using for the afghan, it feels so soft and warm. The one difference is that the yarn for the hat is bulky. The scarf was a stitch that I made up, sort of. Not sure what to call it.

Could you possibly post the photo of your rose afghan here, in my thread? I love looking at it. Some day I may give it a go.

Emma, that is beautiful work! I love it, your stitches are so neat and perfect!
And yes, the afghan I'm making for my sister, IS her Christmas gift! lol.

My husband performed major surgery and removed them all for me as I screamed like a baby...lol... They hurt!!! LOL

Here's the finished afghan... It is really easy but time-consuming. I decided to just go with a simple but really pretty shell border. The one I am making for my sister will have a much wider border...

 

Thank-you, Once. I am still somewhat new to the whole crochet thing, but I really do enjoy it. Also, thank-you for the photo of your afghan, I showed it to a friend and they were amazed at how lovely it is.

We have a houseful this weekend, lots of cooking, cleaning and good times. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter holiday.

I really like this quote, thank-you for bringing it to my attention @PortalNaut. I truly believe that we tinnitus sufferers are SO much stronger than we give ourselves credit for.

 

@emmalee Sorry for just dropping the quote and running, but to add...I read it and felt like it states some truism in life that you don't realize or figure out till you live through it. T changes us and I think... that we "adapt' is part of the process of strength-making. That's even if we on the surface have some negative emotions from time to time.

And on another subject...your needwork creations are quite incredible, but they bring to mind I read last month a fiction book, so if you like fiction you might like books from Betsy Devonshire, as they all involved needlecraft. The one I read is "And Then You Dye."

 

Not a problem whatsoever @PortalNaut, I am happy that you left the quote for me to read. It surely does state 'truism' like you say. Yes, tinnitus changes us, 100%. I do believe that it is does make us stronger. We all need strength to manage each day.
