So here I am after lurking for a few days.

My tinnitus developed around 1/4 or 1/5, can't rightly remember.

I've always slept with earplugs, and one night, while apply them, I pushed one of the plugs in a bit harder than usual.

      Hello tinnitus.

Ironic, since just the day before, I was reading a forum post about someone who committed suicide over tinnitus and thought, 'wow, that sucks. I hope I don't get it'. So yeah.

The tinnitus developed in my right ear at first, but at this point it's practically a 0 compared to my left - there are times where I'd even wonder if tinnitus is still in the right ear or not (it's still there, just really hard to notice).

As for my left ear, it started maybe 2 or 3 days in, and is a consistent high pitched sound (not particularly loud, but very high pitch). This is accompanied by noticeable ear pressure - and is frankly bothers the crap out of me.

Now, I'm pretty sure part of this is on me - like a dumbass, I tried to clean my ear using a earspoon and went about it a bit hard, so my left ear is a bit raw/sensitive, which I'm sure made my tinnitus and the sense of pressure much worse for the moment. Hopefully once my ear heals a bit more, the pressure and the tinnitus dies down a bit.

I'll be seeing a ENT on 1/15 to get an audiogram and consultation. I'm hoping like hell there's no hearing loss.

I guess I count myself fortunate still:

      1. I've been taking Melatonin, so my sleep is a bit worse, but not significantly so.
      2. It's still early, so I'm holding on to the hope that in 6 month the tinnitus will go away on its own like many people.
      4. I've got tinnitus right around the cusp of break through treatments like Lenire, Shore, FX-332, etc.

Just wanted to say hi and get this off my chest.

Hello, I'm new too and I like to get a reply out there. The appointment with the specialist will certainly be very important. All of these illnesses are the same until we’re effected you have no idea what it is until you get or a friend/family and then you become aware. Take care.

      Thanks.

Not gonna lie, it's pretty tough - occasional dark thoughts and all that.

The ear pressure is aggravating - and quite hard to ignore.

I'm hoping that the ENT can put my mind at ease, but I'm also dreading the possibility that I have hearing loss and may never recover.

      It's rough.
