Man is the problem solving animal - and therein lies the problem.

When we encounter any normal problem - we set about solving it.
There is immediate satisfaction if we can achieve a resolution.
      We have regained our equilibrium.

Tinnitus imposes a condition on us which is a problem we cannot solve.
Tinnitus offers us no opportunity for a resolution.
We have persistent loud noise inside of our head.
We hate it - we loathe it - we cannot stand it.
We long to turn it off.
But we can’t - and neither can anybody else turn it off for us.

      Unresolvable issues are exhausting,
because we never give up on the attempt.

As all attempts to turn it off are futile and exhausting, perhaps the answer is simply to accept that it is there.
How might we do that ???

Can we learn to accept it?
Can we learn to expect it?
Can we just let it be there, without distressing about it.
Can we abandon trying to solve it?

I have better days when I can adopt the attitude that ‘this is normal.’
      A tough call - I know.

      (Answers on a postcard please.)
