I was wondering if anyone here in the States believes we should have a National Healthcare System? I read that Bernie Sanders wants to expand the Medicare system to include everyone who is a U.S. citizen. As nice as that sounds one fear I have is how this will increase taxes. I'm not 100% sold on the idea.

No it won't we have way mooooooore than enough money for that type of health care system , the problem is the implementation a lot of people will try to steal like they already do with Medicare And Medicaid , corruption and money wasted in other areas , in numbers it was said that it would cost 200 to 250 billion dollars a year to have universal health care in contrast we used 6 trillion dollars in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars ,that right there would give us around 30 years of universal healthcare compared to 13 years of war officially

That and there's also a-holes out there like Martin Skreli that privitize life-saving drugs by buying them out and raising the price 5000%...

As for Bernie Sanders, I think he has a good plan. Yeah I love the idea and he is also one for stopping corrupt spending like svg1204 said... Yes there will be taxes but you will get care and less medical bills to pay in return. Nothing to lose in my own opinion considering that medical bills and insurance are already strangling my bank account.

I believe we should have a national healthcare system. There are many people without insurance who will wait until the last minute to get treatment, and then the medical facilities are burdened with extensive and expensive treatment that could have been nipped in the bud if the person had access to treatment in the early stages. The cost of healthcare in the U.S. is outrageously expensive compared to the rest of the civilized world. http://theatln.tc/UFJd7f My personal opinion is that the reason for our skyrocketing costs has a lot to do with how insurance companies, HCA (Hospital Corporation of America), Big Pharma and lobbyists all work together to keep it that way.

But far more important than the issue of expense is the moral and ethical issue that people should have a right to healthcare regardless of socioeconomic status. Pro life should apply from cradle to grave, not just to the time span in the womb. Over 26,000 people aged 25 to 64 die every year due to lack of health coverage. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/06/20/us-usa-healthcare-deaths-idUSBRE85J15720120620

If that many people died every year in the U.S. from terrorist attacks, people would be screaming nonstop 24/7 to be saved from such a scourge. I'm sure Congress would be more than willing to raise taxes or do whatever is necessary to save American lives. As @svg1204 noted, we always have the money for the wars.

yea, honestly im thinking of moving to Argentina a lot of people that i know have moved to europe, costa rica, argentina, at my work i was offered yesterday leave of absence can you believe that? just because the first week i got T, i couldn't do much, the only reason i dont quit is because of the health insurance that i really need now. our dental insurance is a joke.

i have a friend that moved from Florida to Argentina and says he is happy comes here to the US just to buy things and take over there a sale or whatever he needs for his home, he also has health insurance but he doesnt have copays or anything of that sort, he just pays monthly what it is and just goes to the doctor, he doesnt have to pay for seeing a specialist or getting an MRI or anything.

and yea, 6 trillion dollars in a pointless war that has brought more harm than good, thats not counting what now forces have to pay to disabled veterans yearly , i found out just for tinnitus and hearling loss the goverment pays around 1.5 billion dollars in disability payments for veterans, put a billion into research we would find that cure for T in no time.
