      Hi,

I am new to the forum, but it's great to read stories with people saying how they learned to cope. Allready stumbled across other forums of people freaking out with Tinnitus, last thing you need is mass hysteria when freaking out yourself.

I am a sailor and got Tinnitus on my last sea voyage. I had experienced about a month of feeling vague and slightly dizzy prior to the Tinnitus. I have had this before, 5 years ago I had a cat scan and was told it was left sided maxillary sinusitis. I was given Nasonex and the problem went away. It has returned temporarily since, and again nasonex worked. I first noticed tinnitus in 2012 at night, but it didn't bother me and went away. I noticed it again in 2013,in quiet rooms. Again it went away. Then last month it came back louder than before and didn't go away. I just carried on, assuming I would see an ENT specialist when I got home and get it sorted. As with so many, the Doctor wasn't interested and sent me away with some antibiotics, which he said probably wouldn't work.

I told him about my sinusitis, which I am sure is related to the tinnitus, he didn't believe feeling I was having was sinusitis , even though I brought the letter in with the Cat Scan result. I am not gong to accept there is nothing that can be done. I am wondering if there are other people in here with symptoms similar to mine and what they did to relieve them. I have a high pitched noise in my right ear, sometimes both. I have a mild pain in my nose, and in the last 2 days a headache that gets worse if I bend over, which feels sinus related. The vague feeling I get comes and goes. It all started after some severe pain in my right side, which was investigated but no cause was found and it went away. After that the vague feeling started.

I am in the UK, does anybody have any advice on how to get the NHS to atleast let me talk to an ENT specialist . The NHS website says that is the normal procedure, but normal procedure is to be told to go away and live with it.I am using Mometasone spray to treat. I stopped that for 5 days as the Doctor said it didn't help with sinusitis , and things got worse.

Hi Dusty ,glad you found this site ,best there is .
I've got rhinitis, and same problem as yourself ,had this come about,8/9 years now ,I've had MRI,3 hearing test ,plus every nasal spray there is ,even from ENT ,no affect on sinuses .
I'm convinced this sinus is my biggest problem with tinnitus ,blocked ears ,now I get the balance issue. So yours most likely is blocked Eustachian tubes .
Don't let pusser mess around ,they can mess you up big time.
Do you wear headset in relation to your job ? If so get job relief if poss till ENT ,have a look and a hearing test ,if they think it warrants a further look they will give you an MRI .
Mine is low today ,so balance is really off .i get bad facial pain with sinuses ,which I think another problem with that is our UK weather .Try not to get them syringed till ENT has seen you ,being service present and past they fast track you under NHS .My husband former Marine with tinnitus ,he had a ear op soon as he hit civvy street ,he was fast tracked back then ,at Freedom Fields hospital in Plymouth ,now pusser are sent to Derriford .
Stick to it don't get fobbed off ,complain ,and complain more .
I find looking up and down a problem with the sinuses.
There is a thread on here I came across on allergies and tinnitus go have a look .
Be careful of ear drops they give you that's another problem ,with tinnitus.
Hope you get the right help ,if you do be interested if anything outside what you've tried helped you .
Don't get freaked out ,lots with these issues . This site is the only one I've found that really has helped me understand my tinnitus ,so stay looking up on the threads okay .God Bless

      Hi Marlene.

Thanks for your reply. I'm Merchant Navy, so I don't get any fast tracking under the NHS. My ears are fine for ear wax, according to the doctor I saw. I guess I have to go back and try another doctor if nothing changes.

Hi Dusty ,yea see how you maybe will have to join the NHS waiting list ,wish you luck on that ,under NICE ruling they've got to see you within 16/18 weeks from seeing a Dr ,Goverment brought this in ,so press on .
If you don't your be waiting and waiting ,hope you got good NHS dr ,not all are bad ,just some .Ones I've had both female have been good ,but hey still got same old issues going . I get lot of ear infections that tends to go hand in hand with sinuses and tinnitus .Takecare

Thanks again. It's great to talk to someone who understands and isn't freaking out about thier condition. I know that controlling your feelings is probably the biggest thing with this. I was just fine with it for a whole month, but after I left the Doctors Surgery thinking that my life was done, that I just couldn't put up with this for life, I really went downhill fast.

Now I am feeling much stronger.

I went to my ENT last week, because I cannot equalize pressure in my right ear (where the T is). It does crack and pop in that eustachian tube. Seen 5 ENT's, no one would believe me, he's the first one that ordered a CT scan (called CAT in the US) because my nose drips already for the time that I have T, so nearly 5 months.
I used 5 different bottles of sprays (also Nasonex type) and he told me to quit with them, as they don't work. Did an allergy test with 19 needle points, all negative. But yes there can be tested much more allergies.

I'm lucky my T is down to 2/10 or 1/10 because of the TMJ / neck treatment, but the nose is a problem as well.

Sinus issues are hard to fix. I'm looking into doing Chinese herb medicine as antibiotics can increase my T.
But first I have to wait for the CT / CAT scan to confirm eustachian tube / sinus issues.
