New Here: Tinnitus Since 2010 Likely from West Nile Virus Infection

Good evening everyone. Never joined a support forum before, always a first time. I found this one after watching yet another snake oil video hawking Quietum or whatever the latest $100 a bottle miracle cure is this month. I thought to myself, "that looks like complete BS" and I came here to confirm suspicions.

Compared to what others report, my tinnitus doesn't sound as bad, an electronic sounding continuous "beeeep" sound in my left ear, every second of every day for ten years now. I can usually disregard it and go about my business, but sometimes it gets so bad I want to scream. I asked my doctor, also a tinnitus sufferer, if there was anything new to report. She said no, and she looks into it regularly. The Tinnitus Tracks here help a little, as do many background noises, but I wish there was more that could be done. With any luck, maybe soon.

I asked my doctor, also a tinnitus sufferer, if there was anything new to report.

Your doctor is uneducated. There's LOTS OF NEW research going on! Look at the "Research News" section... We could have effective treatments in a matter of year or two!

That's encouraging. I also see a neurologist once a year, and he told me the same thing - lots of phony baloney, nothing substantial yet. But I am an optimist, so here's to hoping for the best for all of us.
