New tinnitus addition at 70

Just turned 70 and noticed hissing noise about 6 months ago. Thought it was sound system in our house but nobody else heard it. I tried to record the noise on my iphone but when it didn't record anything I gave up on the sound system.

It has progressed somewhat. I have some great rain sound apps that I use at night and can basically ignore it all the other active hours of the day.

Would love to help find a cure. Don't guess a PhD in Computer Science will help that at all.

Hello! Have you visited the doctor and have you got any idea why it has progressed?
As for the PhD in CS, maybe it will help develop perfected masking devices or smth

No idea why it is gotten louder.

Do you have hearing loss? Since you are 70 maybe it has to do with age-related hearing loss But its good that you have learnt to ignore it.

No hearing loss, fortunately. I hear much better than most of my golfing buddies that are a little younger.

I hope the tinnitus doctor might be able to give you some advice as to what may have caused it. Here on this board you have alot of valuable information so look around
