New Tinnitus Tone — Should I Try Intratympanic Steroids? Starting to Consider Euthanasia

Hi everyone, I got a new tone in my left ear about a week after having a ride along on my mate's Side by Side UTV, which can apparently reach 90 dBa when accelerating.

I had silicone ear plugs and ear muffs over them and I still felt like it was hurting me, so 20 mins in I put some foam plugs in and that seemed to stop the pain.

I got home and my ears were so sore so I just went to bed.

About a week later I woke up with a new tone in my left ear that is about 600 Hz and it has been really affecting my ability to sleep.

Should I try steroids?

It's been about two weeks now since the incident. And the tinnitus has only been here for a week. However, my tinnitus normally seems to stick around and I've never had it go away like other people. I am just really scared right now and don't know what to do.

I am starting to really weigh up euthanasia as an option as I can't seem to escape this constant downward spiral.

I understand it must have been going through dire straits for you with these hard to cope symptoms, still, don't go doing something so extreme and irreversible - book an appointment with a specialist and do accept professional help, you most probably will improve sufficiently pretty soon for long.

You have to tell your mind it's ok, and it will likely go away. And you have to stay positive, it's the only way.

Unfortunately, I can no longer stand the ringing in my ears.

Initially I had no doubt I would make it passed this my point in my life being mild tinnitus.

Hopefully, it would have made a stronger person.

Unfortunately, my mother has no idea concept of her consequence and so here we arrive.

I current sitting in a salt bath about to throw a toaster in the water for those chemistry geeks.

Regardless, I would like to thank you for giving me support through hard times.

The only regret is that I wish I had reached out sooner.

Even though you are correct that most people's tinnitus improves significantly within 6 months, this occurs only in cases where there was a noise exposure that caused the tinnitus. As for weighing euthanasia as an option, that is not a good decision because there will be a treatment for tinnitus called "Lenire" which will be released soon in Europe.

Five years ago I wanted to die,
I prayed to die in the night.
I longed for it my friend.
I told my doctor I would creep out of the house in the middle of the night without anybody hearing me.......I knew exactly where to throw myself to be sure of death......
But I made myself persevere.....and here I am.
You may well find a way.....please try....x

 

Being well versed having degrees in Science, Master of Science, Physics, and Engineering I am puzzled as to why the combination of extension cord, toaster and saltwater did not work.

This is strange given the salinity and temperature of the bath the should of had increased electrical conductivity should been enough to kill me.

The only possible theory that I can hypothesis is that modern day power electrical devices have safety trip mechanisms.

Regardless, on to plan B.

People are all worried about death. But, honestly you will care if you died at the age of 26 or 90 and people are just prisoners to their own bodies.

Life is our one shot at being here, being conscious and having this experience. That's what I believe anyway.
True, you won't care how old you were when you die, when you are dead, but that's not a reason to die young.
Two days ago, I looked out my window and I don't know why, but I thought I love having been given a chance at life, it's good, I want it, in all it's complexities, unknowns, challenges and joys.
I didn't feel that way in the last half of 2016. I wanted to die.
I've made so much progress, and as has Jazzer as he articulates so well (as usual) in his post above. He has severe tinnitus yet managed to find his coping mechanisms and still finds joy in his life.

I don't know what to say about the toaster, yes, maybe it was the safety switch, either way, your time isn't up.

If you want to the view the world in that light that is fine. However, there many possibilities after death and it even approaches infinite. If this is true there is 1 in infinite chance that nothing exists after life and that scares people. people.

Regardless, nothing after death makes no senses.

If nothing is after death that is something.

Something is not nothing.

Therefore, there must be something after death.

Even if that premise is wrong assuming time is endless the same evens should happen again similar to how pie holds the answer to the universe.

So events that lead to our birth in the first place should happen again based of probability.

In all honestly people have no proof that life does not exist. However, we have books and literature that prove otherwise.

I could state the smartest humans in the world believe in after life but that would be appeal to authority.

If death is something truly terrifies you than I am sorry because on day you will die and there is nothing you can prevent it.

Regardless, I am taking a small chance there is nothing after death and for me that outweighs a lifetime of tinnitus.

I wish it was different, I wish I had different parents but that is life.

If it makes you feel better and I am wrong the universe should end once you killed yourself because time should go by in a flash because if you prescribed to the notion before you were born the universe was created and around for trillion of years there is no reason to assume the universe will not end if you do in the perspective of time.

Besides we get all hang up on the notion of age.
Age is just a construct and has no real empathizes.
I know people want to see the world and do amazing things.
But tinnitus has robbed that from me see there will not be a difference in my perspective.
Humans are disillusioned by the world of shapes (plato).
