I saw an article in the Tampa Bay Times today about a small cochlear implant that performs sound processing using a device attached to the skull. It is small enough that your hair might hide it. I only skimmed the article and have no idea if something like this would work for tinnitus, but anything that connects us to our audio environment might help mask it.
