Ototoxicity (Gentamicin and Other Aminoglycosides)

Do any of you have tinnius or tinnitus with hearing loss due to ototoxicity? (aminoglycosides and so on). Who can say the ototoxicity of gentamicin - what is the mechanism of damage to the inner ear? Only outer hair hairs die, internal ones remain intact? This can be compared to a lesion with acoustic trauma and otitis?
