Cause of Tinnitus
Noise Induced (multiple acoustic incidents)
How do you cope when it feels like every mild to moderate noise is giving you spikes and new sensations?

I am wearing earplugs all day and am still getting anxious if I experience exposure to a loud noise (doors slamming, trucks or even just cars passing by, using tools or kitchen equipment...)

If I can, I addionally cover my ears with my hands, but of course I am often not fast enough.

When I have the plugs inserted, I am hearing a crackling inside my ear, like there is wax betwwen the plug and my ear canal or something. I am cleaning plugs and my ear canal, but it is still there. Of course it seems loud because it is direclty in the ear ...

I am working in an office so I have to use the telephone a lot ...

It is like no matter what I do, I can't escape noise and this is constantly making my symptoms worse. I have gone from one tone to six meanwhile in the last 2 months ...

Since I had a few acoustic incidents over the last 4 months, it seems like my ears are totally messed up. I have no hearing loss on a regular audiogram, but it feels like I am having more problems to understand speech when my ears are plugged. I have the feeling that has been better before.

I just do not know what to do, to plug, not to plug, give my ears rest, expose it to noise so it will get used to it again ... it feels my hearing is very fragile atm and everyday is a minefield. I have a major setback everyday because I can't avoid all the mines ...

Anyone with a similar experience? What do you do about it? How to cope with that situation? It is really frustrating ...
