I am on the 6 week mark of Tinnitus in my right ear. It's torture. Unfortunately the result of a fall that also impacted the right side of my head. Not sure it will ever go away yet i certainly hope so.

On that note I'm wondering if anyone has Tinnitus in just one ear? Or both?

I consider mine to be in my head. I am for all practical purposes deaf in my right ear so I have no concept of left vs right hearing.

i had t only in my right ear until two days ago, now I'm getting a buzzing sound on the left side of my head above my ear-- the t in my right ear was quieting down quite a bit, and now this starts on my left side, its almost like my brain is compensating for the loss of volume on the other side or something... anyone else have experience like this?

    9. I do Mpt, i have some feeling of a buzz saw or razorsharp drill that starts randomly in my right ear or right side of the head. This happens more frequently when i am tired, could come in 15-20 secs and then fade for a minute or two. Very annoying to say the least. My T is sound induced from the beginning.

Sometimes I hear tinnitus in my either ear, but usually the right and sometimes it will be the left. But, believe it or not, this is the minority of cases. Usually I hear my tinnitus in my head, i.e. it doesn't sound like it is from either ear. That is the case 95% of the time. It's rare that it feels like it comes from my ears... but when it does, it is always either the right or left, but not both simultaneously.

Mine also seem to go thru the top of my head. It originally seemed to start in the left ear, and that side is loudest, but now the loud "buzzing" sound is throughout my head. It also get louder if I yawn, press my temples, turn my neck, or push on the back of my head. Very bothersome!!

I have right-ear pure tones and static. Pretty sure it was a result of a blow to the back of my head on the right side.

I'm currently resting after having my C1 vertebrae adjusted by an Atlas Orthogonal specialist. Tinnitus is not gone after 12 days, but my energy improved. Plus the doctor was a breath of fresh air after all the shrugs I've gotten from my GP and ENT. Though results are still pending for me, I've experienced enough "good days" to recommend anybody who started buzzing because of an injury to get their neck checked.

Mine is in the right ear only --- high-pitched hissing tone, plus pulsatile tinnitus.

I also went to an Atlas orthogonal specialist and had an adjustment. I'm afraid that, in my case, it didn't help my tinnitus. But then, I didn't really think mine was neck-related; I went on the recommendation of a chiropractor.

I hope yours improves after the adjustment!

      Best wishes,
      Karen

I think mine is just mainly "in my head". As in not one ear the other. Although for a while yesterday I had a rather loud roaring seashell noise, that felt like it was more on my right side. As I type, it's pretty quiet.

Mine is in both ears too. Louder on the left side and different tones, left being higher. Fleeting t on both sides several times a day when it spikes real loud in one ear then quickly goes down again.

      Hi DebS,
We seem having absolutely the same T.
Buzzing in the head and gets louder if I clench my teeth.
It is like an old CRT TV.
      Really bothersome.
Let's hope we habituate to this.
      All the best,
      Martin

Is everyone's tinnitus noise induced? Or head injury?

Both now. Years ago it was only in left. Left is still the worse.

Right ear only - significant hearing loss for years before onset of T. After thinking I sensed T in my left ear a couple times I thought, "I'll just stop the T in my right ear to see if I can localize the sound." And then remember you can't plug one ear to stop the tinnitus sound. Duh.

Interesting that for some it seems non ear-related, too. The more I read, the less I know!

Right ear sings to me most of the time, high-pitched hissing like steam escaping, other times it moves into the middle of my head almost like a dentist drill, and then every once in a while the left ear will chime in and they'll do a little duet together. :)

Mine was originally noise-induced (right ear only). Then, four years ago, I took a blood pressure drug that caused my mild tinnitus to get much worse. The blood pressure drug also caused my pulsatile tinnitus to begin.

Yes, Martin...exactly like electrical interference! I do have a couple of good days every week where it's not too loud...how about you? We got it about the same time, too. How did yours start? Mine seemed to come on gradually after dental work, and then got worse during the winter. I seem to be handling it better lately, tho. Hoping that means I'm habituating. Good luck!

My niece had this type of T; she seemed to think it was from stress. It went away by itself after 5 or 6 months.

Hey Debs, do you know if she had any tests or what made the PT worse/better? Started almost 3 months ago, its worse when laying down, bending down, physical activity that type of thing. Though I was not stressed when it started... I was VERY stressed later when it didn't go away.

Hearing that gives me hope! :joyful:

      DebS,

That is very encouraging to me, too! I have pulsatile tinnitus like Laura, except that I've had mine for nearly four years. I am still hoping that it will go away on its own.

We would both like to hear more about your niece's situation!
