Hello Mike here

I had a few questions:

1. Why is overprotecting your ears bad?
2. Are smartphone application decibel meter applications legit? ( I have the S7 Edge new phone of Samsung if its about the sensor )
3. Will the tests that I will do with the ENT doctor in a month make my T worse?

Thank you.

@MikeGreen
Hi Mike,
Overprotecting the ears (using earplugs for example) can make the auditory system more sensitive and cause hyperacusis or make the condition worse for someone that has it.
I have a smart phone decibel app which is comparable to my semi professional sound level meter.
The tests at your ENT shouldn't cause you any problems.
I have recently written a post for people new to tinnitus which you might find helpful. It also covers the questions you've asked. Click on the link below.
All the best
Michael

I use the same on my Sony phone and I find it very accurate. But the best is to calibrate the app with a real sound meter. This app seems very sensitive with the very low frequencies though.
