Hello everyone, or anyone!
I woke up one morning with a high-pitched constant tone, similar to what you might hear after a night at a club with loud music, except that usually fades within an hour or two.
Back in 2007, I was diagnosed with a rare blood condition called polycythemia vera. Five years later, it led to a stroke that caused permanent nerve damage on my stronger right side. I'm currently taking a few types of medication, including blood pressure medication and blood thinners.
About a year ago, I woke up to silence and thought, I hope that's the end of it. But the next day, the sound came back—much louder, higher pitched, and more sensitive to similar types of noise.
Can alcohol and drugs make it worse? I've been using both quite a bit as a way of coping. Any advice would be welcome.
Right now, I'm having a rum and coke with a cheeky spliff.
