Cause of Tinnitus
Concert and stress
Hi guys,

I have had tinnitus for sometime, but it recently got worse due to a stressful life event.

I have therefore been monitoring it more, practicing avoidance and have largely been more limited in my life as a result. Whilst avoiding loud noises, clubs, bars and cinemas etc as best possible, I have been exposed to some loud noise whilst at home!

I have a labrador and west highland terrier. Today, they got spooked by some horses running across an adjacent field and began barking earnestly and loudly. On my iphone app (decibel 10), the labrador's bark was measured at 104.5db!

Now I am freaking out as to whether this has caused a worsening in my T. The barking went on for 10-25 seconds.

Any thoughts and advice and help would be greatly apprecaited. The thought that this could have gotten worse is really freaking me out!

Thanks all!

@spikedears ,
Stress can cause tinnitus and spike it.
Dogs barking can spike it but I don't think any permanent damage has been done.
Try keep relaxing music on around you and try off load stress and try some deep breathing to help you stay calm.
Love glynis

Westie's are loud when they want to be, lol.

Doubt it will be permanent. There are some good people on this forum who will really give you positive, objective advice. @glynis is one and has done above. @fishbone and Michael Leigh are others
