Actually, the brain is magnificent but don't you think the brain is being a scumbag about tinnitus? If this post gets deleted that is fine, I just get frustrated sometimes and thought you all would understand this.

      Exactly!
If silence is NOTHING and noise is SOMETHING, why the f*ck is brain wasting energy to create something that is completely useless?
According many researches, saving energy is #1 priority for brain and living organisms overall.

I contacted Bill Gates at Microsoft and posed the same question about why the human brain through 200,000 years of evolution has not taken care of this and his response was, its a hardware glitch and they are working on it. It may take a couple more decades to solve.

Um, an obtuse attempt at making an analog between the development of Microsoft products replete with technical glitches not even resolved with service packs...lol and other technical issues in spite of the brightest minds working on them and how evolution...or the grand design of the human brain has its design glitches as well. Some have epilepsy as well but not everyday.
Even Hillary Clinton seems to have a serious health issue she is hiding. A lot more than reported pneumonia.

The brain is not really rational and neither were the circumstances which created it.

Tinnitus, in many cases, appears to be a result of a handful of neurons in the dorsal cochlear nucleus attempting to keep their output at the same signal strength as usual following an input loss. If we believe evolutionary theory then we may conclude that at some point in the past, organisms which responded to signal loss in this way were more likely to live long enough to breed, than organisms which didn't. Or, even, that the mechanisms which cause tinnitus also have other useful/survival-critical functions in other parts of the orgamisms.

As to the meme -- the brain doesn't really "know" anything. Tinnitus comes from the brain, insofar as it is a neutral and selfless manifestation of a state. Processing that as "sound" and then further deciding that it's "bad" and suffering as a result is an emergent property of consciousness.

This is the best framework I've found through which to approach these ideas without making myself distressed.
