Tinnitus Since
July 2017
Cause of Tinnitus
fire alarms
In my housing association, it is not council, but owned by a private charity, it is flats for the over 60s
In each small 1 bed flat there are 4 alarms and each alarm is 110db.

I believe the total decibel level is 116db that has an exposure time of less than 30 seconds
Because of my complaints a decibel test was done by their own alarm engineer but he held
the meter very close to the floor and got 88db and he did not take a reading at ear level.
My ears are 2ft 3inch from the alarm head on the ceiling, I am 5ft 9inch.

In July I heard the alarms for the first time, it was for about 30 seconds and since then I have tinnitus for 24 hours per day.

The charity is claiming that it would be impossible for my hearing to have been damaged and the
level of decibels is perfectly safe.

The final stage of my complaint is next week in north London and I am seeking an advocat
who has a science or health background who might be able to come with me
I shall be outnumbered, there will be 3 trustees and the chief executive who are all saying
it is safe.
