Hi, I am currently four months out from quitting Xanax cold turkey. I was taking high doses, around 10 to 15 mg, every other day or every few days. When I realized I had developed dependence and was experiencing tolerance withdrawals, I panicked and stopped taking it abruptly. I deeply regret not reinstating, but I was afraid of becoming a daily user.

I originally developed hyperacusis two and a half years ago after an airbag deployed during a car crash. A couple of months later, it got much better and went into remission. It eventually returned, but it was very mild.

Then, two days after quitting Xanax, my ears became extremely sensitive. My friend dropped a large ruler, and that is when my left ear developed hyperacusis too. Since then, I have been dealing with severe pain hyperacusis. I have mostly stayed at home, and it has been four months of intense suffering. I do not know what to do, and I am extremely scared.

I just started taking Clomipramine four days ago, but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and eventually improved?
