I got my latest spike a month ago when I went to a bar and club while wearing earplugs (I made a separate post about it). I kept the earplugs in the entire evening, spoke with them in, and even did a bit of jumping around (me dancing), all while keeping the earplugs on.
Afterwards, I noticed that my own voice started to make my tinnitus spike even more. I began feeling pressure in my head and ears, and sometimes even nausea if I talked too much. (I know not everyone enjoys hearing me talk, but causing nausea… that was a joke.)
I have also noticed that sounds inside my head seem louder than before, like chewing something crunchy or drinking water.
Could this be a tensor tympani issue caused by the occlusion effect from wearing earplugs? My ears feel very tired, and at times my head still feels like I have been in a boxing ring. It is not a pleasant sensation.
It has been over a month now, and while my condition has improved a little, I am still worried. This is the worst spike I have experienced since developing this condition six years ago. The ironic part is that I never had spikes this bad, even when I went to loud places without earplugs.
