      Headphone use? or sinus issues?
      Hello,

I'm new to this forum, and I apologize if some version of this question has been answered somewhere. I've had tinnitus (both ears, not pulsatile) for about 9 months, and in the course of exploring some ear pain that preceded the tinnitus, my ENT did an MRI and CT scan and found that my right and left maxillary sinuses are both completely blocked--some kind of inflammation. I went to a good sinus surgeon, and he's willing to do surgery to drill out the blocked sinuses...but he's completely neutral on recommending this.

Both he and my ENT say that the blockage has nothing to do with my tinnitus, and that I only discovered the blockage accidentally because the ENT ordered an MRI. So they both consider me asymptomatic in regard to the sinus blockage.

Again, the surgeon is willing to do the surgery to clear out the inflammation, but he says it has nothing to do with my tinnitus. (I had thought the tinnitus was caused by headphone use...but who knows?)

So...what would you folks do if you were me? An ENT and a sinus surgeon may not be tinnitus experts, and I'd hate to skip the surgery if it actually COULD reduce the tinnitus.

But if this really won't help the tinnitus, I don't want to have unnecessary (and potentially difficult) surgery.

Any insights would be very welcome! I feel a little at sea having to make such a decision.

Difficult decision, but personally I would go with it inoreer totak unblock my sinuses and at very least get them better. If docs said there are no real risks to operation, it can only make you better. Maybe not with T, but still better. Get a third opinion though with another ENT doc just in case.

I know this was posted a long time ago but if you get this, did you get the surgery and did it help your tinnitus?
