Tinnitus 7 Days Now

Hi everyone! Since the 8th of September at 5 in the morning before going to bed I started suffering NON-STOP tinnitus.

I am extremely worried thinking that this might be chronical, because it hasn't gotten any better since the day it started

2 days ago I went to visit a specialist, and he said that it's very likely to be caused by stress. After seeing 2 non-specialised doctors and then the specialist, they all came to the same conclusion. The specialist said that this could last for a month. In November I have to go and get a hearing test, and before that a scan. Before leaving the specialist said he was 90% sure it would disappear. I somewhat, after reading tons of posts, am not sure that this might not be my case?

I can mask it, putting the fan and sometimes the Tele (Low Volume, hardly can tell what they are saying) at the same time. Can drive without hearing it. In public areas I hardly notice it, can have a normal conversation. But when I get back home, the noise gets a lot louder, and it certainly makes things more annoying!

Should I be happy with what the specialist said? Is it normal, if it's stress related, to be a constant peeping sound?
I'f it's caused by stress, will it go away?

Did you attend a concert prior to your Tinnitus? Club? Any loud noise?
Do you listen to music on ipod, do you use earbuds/earphones?
Do you have TMJ?

 

What is TMJ? No concerts, no iPod, I was just watching the Tele. What I can say is that I have been going through a difficult period. I have a stone in my kidney and have had a catheter pigstail for about a month and half now that has been making very worried since then.

Hi @Alex Matyjasek! As far as I've understood tinnitus might be related to stress and anxiety, and since you have been having a bit of a rough time this might be the cause for you. My mother had a friend who had stress related tinnitus, and his dissapeared (not sure for how long he had it). If it will go away or not, only time can tell. There are a lot of people with success stories out there, and I hope this will be the case for you as well.
