Sorry if this sounds bad but do you know somebody with tinnitus alongside with some form of deformity.

I feel kinda alone with my chest (pectus excavatum) and ear abnormality.

I know this might feel like I am not grateful for being able to walk, breathe, eat normally or even see but it bothers me a bit.

Thanks for any replies and best wishes, Thomas

I do have pectus excavatum but its pretty mild and hardly noticeable if I put more muscle mass into myself which I probably won't.

Man you cant imagine how much I like to hear that i am not alone. This helped me really really much. Hope you can get better.

There is a thread about a man who has tinnitus and pectus excavatum here: https://www.tinnitustalk.com/threads/ive-hit-rock-bottom.20229/#post-233715

Don't consider it a deformity. It's just the way you were created. If it is going to be a problem you could get surgery but just remember, if you do, they can cut nerves which leaves part of your chest numb. There may be other methods where they might be able to fill it in cosmetically though but I'm not 100% sure.

I think there is a bigger chance of tinnitus in pectus excavatum individuals because of bad posture and stress related to their condition. What do you think ?

@Thomas Hrdy, don't feel alone as I have PE and I totally understand all the thoughts and emotions that come with this condition and how traumatic it can be. In fact, seeing those words in print still gives me nightmares, but a lot of that now relates to the many surgeries I've had. Mine developed when I was around 13.

I used to be part of the biggest pectus forum on the internet many years ago, and I can assure you there are loads of us out there. You are most certainly not alone. Look up the swimmer Pieter van den Hoogenband, he was very prolific and was in full view of the world. Billy Zane also has a mild form and there are loads of other examples.

For me it was pressing on my heart and was affecting my breathing which is why I opted for surgery. Just talking about this is incredibly hard for me as it all went wrong and it brings back unbelievably dark memories that I try and block out.

If it's only cosmetic, try not to worry about it as other people don't care about it anywhere near as much as we do. Trust me. I saw a guy on my honeymoon in Hawaii (who was also British) and one day he came out to go swimming and he had a moderately deep Pectus and didn't bat an eye. He had a beautiful wife so, obviously, she wasn't at all bothered either. I know it's easy to say this as I've lived with the horror of this condition, but it's true. We must love ourselves first and foremost.

Thank you very much this really helped me. I will try to cover it up with muscle and exercise ( This also can help my tinnitus if the doctor was correct about neck muscle related tinnitus).
