Tinnitus Since
2009
Hello all,

I thought I would introduce myself. I have been a Tinnitus sufferer since about 2009. I remember when it started. We were away seeing my son who had just completed basic training with the Army. I remember that evening thinking that it sounded like I'd been to a very loud rock concert because my ears were ringing. I thought it would go away by morning. It did not.

My first year was devastating to me. I remember breaking down in tears when my audiologist told me I was stuck with Tinnitus. (my words, not his). I didn't know what to do and I didn't know how I could possibly cope with it.

It turns out, I have coped and continued to live pretty well. I've tried all sorts of sound masking items and various 'natural' supplements but none of them have changed the status of my Tinnitus.

Maybe one day there will be a cure for this incessant thing. :)

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the positive update. My T started about the same year. Like you my initial suffering was horrendous, not knowing how to cope with my severe T & H for long term. But like you it turns out that I can still live a normal life, and can enjoy life as it used to be. This is a positive message to newer sufferers that don't bet your future based on the initial sufferings. Things can get better over time.
