I’m forever listening to music at home just loud enough to drown out my tinnitus and it’s the only way I can concentrate. However my school obviously does not allow us to wear any kind of music device. Do any of you think that there would be a good chance that if I explained the situation to senior management they would make and exception for me?

Is it possible you get get fitted for a hearing aid with masking noises? The school can't stop you from wearing your hearing aid.

Your school should be allowed to make an exception if you have a doctor's note explaining your situation. I wear headphones and play music when working just for the same reason. Try to get an open ear design so you don't drown out others talking to you (so long as you don't play it too loud).
