      Hi!
I got my tinnitus the 2nd of february 2016 at 05.30 in the morning when I awoke to an Extreme noice in both my ears.

My left ear didt feel right and the tinnitus was worse in that ear. I went to see a doctor who noticed water behind the eardrum and some redness but not much. He said its probably an ear infection and gave me eardrops which didt help at all.

On the 18 of february my tinnitus totally disappeared! When it went away it felt like my ears "opened up" and the noise was completely gone.... only to return more than 30 hours later.
Went to see soo many doctors and did a hearing test with the result of no hearing loss at all.
Tinnitus has varied soo much during this time in both what kind of sound and how loud. At times it has gone away even and sometimes so loud I want to crawl out of my own skin...

I went to the dentist by coincidence a few months later and she noticed severe bruxism, so she sent me to a specialist dentist and gave me a bite splint, but my bruxism was more severe than to be treated with just a bite splint so they tried muscle relaxers which helped after 2 weeks of 10 mg each morning and night.

But you cant stay on that forever and it didnt solve my problem so..

After a while there was nothing more to do and at this time my jaw was so bad I could not eat so I only drank nutritional drinks and my t was extremely high and offcourse my pain aswell... so I went to get botox injections in my masseter muscles in my jaw and im on my soon 4th injection soon.

My ears have had "crackling" sounds at times, like the air is trying to come in to my ears but it cant.
Also my ears dont open when i swallow or open my mouth.

I did my story as short as I could.

Does anyone have a similar story and how did you manage to get rid of it?

I am so thankful for every word of advice.

Mild head injury maybe... but who knows...
I can't say I got rid of it, and I'm not even sure if my bruxism is causing my tinnitus. What I can tell you is that about a year and a half ago, my dentist advised me that I had bruxism, and I was a regular teeth grinder, probably during my sleep unconsciously. He recommended a night guard. At the time, I had no $, and could not afford the expensive device, and I had no pain so I was thinking... whatever.

So, cut to a year and a half later, in January 2017... with no loud event to speak of or anything, I awake on cold winter day to a ringing noise in my right ear. I had very mild tinnitus before but this time something was different and anxiety inducing. Two weeks prior to this, I had hit my head lightly while working in my basement. I'm not sure if these two are connected...

But, I attended a neuromuscular dentist (very nice man based in Hamilton, Ontario) who checked my jaw and posture. He advised of a very slight misalignment in my jaw line and the definitive signs of bruxism. And he mentioned this can causing tinnitus, ringing in the ear or ears, but would not say with 100% certainty if this was what was causing the noise for me, which was fair, that would be an assumption at best.

So I'm getting fitted for an orthotic in a few weeks, along with TENS machine therapy, and when I can save up up the money, I'll also be doing Invisalign braces.

I'm hopeful it gets rid of my tinnitus but I'm not entirely counting on it. If you search throughout Tinnitus Talk there seems to be about a 50/50 chance that your tinnitus goes away is for sure caused by bruxism/TMD-TMJ issues.

A night splint can be quite helpful, perhaps even necessary for some folks.

I have an approach to addressing the head/neck/jaw muscles that has been helpful for many. There is a more guided and complete program that I sell, but this free video alone has been the solution for many, as you will read in the comments on YouTube.

Home Trigger Point Therapy for Tinnitus,...

      I hope it helps.

Thank you so much for your respond. Our stories seems to start very similar. Before I got t I didnt even know bruxism could cause it, but somehow its comforting to know that t is a symptom of something and when you find the cause you can try your best to get rid of it. It sounds like yours is caused by bruxism aswell.
Im thinking of trying out a supplement for sleep called 5htp. It helps a lot of people with sleep and serotonin. Have you ever tried it?
Im not really sure what TENS machine therapy is but I will definetly look it up!
Thanks again, its nice to be able to talk to people who are going through this aswell.
I hope you will get rid of your tinnitus!
