I've had tinnitus since 1983, after serving as a nuclear engineer on a warship for four years. With the onset of hearing loss in my mid-60s, the severe, full-head tinnitus became unbearable, leading to panic attacks and acid reflux, which I eventually realized were connected.
Has anyone successfully qualified for military disability for conditions that are clearly linked to tinnitus? In my case, there is no other explanation for the other conditions except tinnitus.
I applied but was initially rejected. I'm now beginning the appeal process.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
