Hi,

I have had tinnitus for about 6 years. I'm pretty good at protecting my ears but last week I got badly caught out with some pretty loud noise exposure. Generally they will ring, however this is the first time I have actually had earache following noise exposure and I just wondered whether that was a common theme amongst people or whether my ears may have experienced a step change in terms of damage?

I genuinely don't get any aches typically so just wanted to draw on other people's experiences.

I'm aware that there is a hyperacusis and aches forum page but I'm interested in people with tinnitus and whether earache is a common theme following noise exposure, as opposed to individuals that have consistent earache or over sensitivity.

Thanks in advance.

I can tell you from my experience that I experience ear pain alongside tinnitus. Also, from the moment that I noticed the tinnitus started to bother me after an acoustic trauma, my ears started to itch and eventually become painful when I listen everyday sounds. I believe this is a form of hyperacusis.

Thanks for the reply. I must admit additional sensitivity and earache were two areas that I hadn't really considered before, very much my own naivety.
