      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Father's shotgun blast
My father took me out to hunt when I was 10 years old. It took one blast and my ears have rung since. I had earmuffs on but didn't help.

It's got worse in the past year. I got sepsis while recovering in hospital after a knee surgery. They gave me various antibiotics and as a result I got hearing loss and worse tinnitus.

I'm glad I'm alive, the sepsis almost killed me, but now I'm left with horrendous screeching tinnitus, and some hyperacusis too. The hearing loss is manageable, sometimes in crowds I struggle to hear well.

I've already learned so much reading this forum. Good luck to us all.

Were you in an enclosed space? That seems highly unlikely. I have only fired a shotgun a handful of times without hearing protection but I know guys who shoot all the time and never use it. That truly sucks man.
