I was suggested to get a Trigeminal Nerve Block Injection for my ear pain caused by an acoustic trauma. Inside the ear I feel a cooling sensation and I have bad tinnitus.

Would you guys recommend me to do it? Good idea or not? Help.

      Hey 1000,

How did you get a diagnosis and what were your symptoms? I think my issues are with this nerve too.

      Wishing you luck. X

I am still waiting for researchers to explain what role the trigeminal nerve plays in painful hyperacusis.

You damaged the auditory nerve fibers. I have the same thing after I did the VEMP test which was 110db and lasted 3 minutes. I cant stand my own voice or others, it causes discomfort but not pain or burning or cooling sensation. I have it only on the right ear (the ear that was tested).

How long did it last, the concert that is?
      How loud was it?
Did you feel a burning sensation in your ear ASAP
Did H and T appear ASAP or was there a lag?
Tell me all the information, the onset, and the symptoms.

I felt a stabbed in my ear and my gog clogged instantly. I was there for an hour or so... The place was empty really... I was under stress the whole day, couldnt sleep the night before...
When I got to the house I noticed my ear was heavy. Got in bed and all the symptoms.... Mainly t 11/10, fullness with pressure, and some pain. The burning came later weeks later. Same wirh the cooling...
The other ear dont have h...just 10/10 t and a very very very light pain but not really noticeable, comes and goes..

      You have an acoustic trauma
You need to do otoacoustic emissions test to determine how much hearing you lost.
      Audiogram also but above 8khz.
I think you damaged outer & inner cochlea cells, as well as nerve fibers. I am not sure if this heals or gets better . I am going through the same, when I did the vemp test, the next day I felt a cool spot in my right ear and got H (Jan 29). I dont have burning sensaitons or pain in either ears. I do have mild T in right ear and Severe T in left ear. I also have damaged outer cochlea cells on L ear as well as mild hearing loss, though only on 4khz.
Can you talk more about your audiogram?

My first audiogram after the episode was a week later, came out normal well from 4k on the 20s.

The second audiogram a week later was even better.

Then a third audiogram three weeks later....4k down to 25 to 30

Have you done Otoacoustic emissions? They are very helpful in determining hearing loss.
you should do another audiogram to see if something has changed?
Do you have H on both ears or only on one?

      Do you use earbuds/earphones?
