It has been over a year since my post. Shortly after that, I spoke to an audiologist from Treble Health. She explained that what I had received was white noise therapy that was both wrong for me and improperly done.
While it is considered controversial, I decided to take a chance with Treble Health for about six months. Through those sessions, I learned that controlling my tinnitus, or rather dealing with it, was primarily about lifestyle changes and coping strategies. For me, it was all about distraction, either by listening to soothing background noise or by engaging my mind with podcasts, radio shows, and similar content. When combined with doing something active, I would often "forget" that I had tinnitus.
I was, and still am, desperate because the improper TRT I received made my tinnitus worse, meaning it became louder, and that has not improved. However, the various coping skills I learned through Treble Health have helped, and I now know how to help myself.
