Hi Guys, my name is Kimberley, I’m fairly new to the forum, I introduced myself a week ago to you great people, and really appreciated your support and replies. I’m 42 and developed tinnitus around 3 1/2 weeks ago, in my right ear after some TMJ issues which I’m having treatment for. I've had a CT scan as I couldn’t have MRI due to cardiac pacemaker, results all clear, bloodwork all good, no ear wax, no infection and basic hearing test good.

I am finding I can have some moments of silence particularly at night but am still bothered with it during the day. I'm wondering if the fact that I have some silence/easing of the noise at night is promising of maybe improvement?

I am also trying the herb Er Long Zuo Ci Pian as recommended by my Chinese medicine practitioner, who I see for chronic heart failure and rheumatoid arthritis. I figured it was worth a try. I'm just wondering if anyone had any experience with taking this?

Trying to be positive, but experiencing some fear and panic in dealing with this. I have been prescribed Valium to help in the meantime, but reluctant to use it too much.

Many thanks for reading and I wish everyone the best.
      Kimberley

I havent tried it. Does it work for you? I understand the Er Long Zuo Ci Wan is a supplement, isn't it?

I did try acupuncture and it provided temporary relief, for a day or two, but unfortunately later my symptoms came back.

Hi Juan, And Oscar, so sorry I’ve been having a break from posting on this website until I’d been on treatment for a while, And didn’t know I’d had your kind replies! I’ve been on the supplement for around 5 weeks or so, it’s been slow going but I’m having many nights where I have no tinnitus or it’s very slight which is fantastic and during the day I’m still having spikes but some days it’s not as loud or frequent, so I think that’s pretty good progress. I have continued to have some acupuncture but like you find improvement can only last a short time. What I have also found quite helpful is seeing an upper chiro specialist, he has done a couple of atlas adjustments, along with TMJ and I’ve found the blocked sensation/pressure in ear has eased a fair bit, and think this has also contributed to some improvement with tinnitus especially at night. My Chinese herbalist seems very confident the tinnitus will continue fade/improve at my last appointment last week, so will see how I go. I am sitting at about 7/8 weeks since my tinnitus started which I’ve been told is still pretty early, so hoping some improvement now is quite positive/promising of this getting better.

Sorry, meant to add, I’m very grateful for any progress, And I don’t want to complain as I realise many other wonderful people on this site are having a rough time and wish everyone who is dealing with this frustrating, horrible condition all the best.

      Hugs Kim

I have been on Er MIn Zuo Ci Wan (a variant, basically the same set of ingredients) for 2 months, it might have helped a little, but it really doesn't hurt since it's just a supplement. I would try.

Hi Oabmarcus, thank you for reply.

I’ve probably been on herbs for 6/7 weeks. So am going to keep going with them, like you I think it’s helped a little, Grateful for some mainly silent nights! although still have days like today where tinnitus is spiking quite badly. I live in Melbourne, Australia where we are under strict restrictions in stage 4 lockdown for COVID-19, so I think stress has made it worse. Hope everyone is doing as ok as possible and would love to hear about your experience if you ever want to share.

      Thanks,
      Kim

On the contrary, the locked-down work from the home situation has positively affected me personally, it lowers my stress as i don't have to commute to work every day. With regard to Chinese medicine in general, like they say"go to a western doctor first, if nothing can be done, try Chinese medicine."

      Hi Debinaustralia,
Thank you for your very kind reply! You mentioned you are close by, are you in Victoria too? Would love to chat sometime and if you wanted to share your story I would love to hear it. Stage 4 restrictions are proving fairly challenging. And my progress is very up and down but trying to hang to there!! And thanks again for reaching out, greatly appreciated! Hope you are going ok and wish you all the best, Kim

      Hi Oabmarcus,

Thank you for your reply, it’s really great you are finding lockdown less stressful, some of my friends are like that but I’m kind of the opposite, Have had a lot of isolation at home and in hospital with recovering from heart surgeries, and other illnesses previously, so being restricted again has spiked some stress and a bit of anxiety, with getting tinnitus in June but hanging in there.

Good advice from you about seeing medical doc first, I advise that too as does my Chinese medicine practitioner.

I’m using Chinese medicine along with western medicine, ie have had CT scan to check ears and head, ears checked for wax, infection, have rheumatoid arthritis which affects TMJ, and neck, so docs think that’s the main culprit, may look into seeing a TMJ specialist and back to ENT after this 6 week lockdown eases. In the meantime docs are suggesting prednisolone and Valium for a week or two to help reduce inflammation in jaw and relax jaw muscles which I’m considering.

I have noticed ear feels less blocked which I think is a positive sign while on herbs and seeing chiro/osteo.

Thank you again for your reply, hope you are going well, and wish you the best. Hope to chat you again. Kim

Funny you updated your post today.

Since western medicine has failed me, my sister has roped me into Chinese herbal medicine. I've been almost a week in this herbal concoction, which I have no idea what it is except it's deeply, murky brown and extremely bitter. Is that what Er Long Zuo Ci Pian or something?

Surprisingly, I am coping better after starting this. My tinnitus volume is the same but my oscillating cricket noises are gone and my mood is more acceptable to my pure tone sounds. However, my tinnitus cycles between good mild days and bad loud days with crickets. I think it's more of a coincidence that I'm just having one of my good days. My days at night and morning seems bearable and I had thought "Hey, maybe this is somehow, weirdly working" but then I got a spike in the morning and afternoon just today. Then again, maybe not. :(

As of now, I'm just humoring my sister and going along, albeit it's quite expensive doing this herbal medicine. Let's see how it goes for the next week.

I'm glad that you seem to be able to narrow down to TMJ because TMJ can be treated and some cases recover from tinnitus. It's a much better outlook than neurological disorders. Please keep us updated with your status and I hope you recover!

No, if you have a concoction it is based on an individually determined formula.

Something in OM says that tinnitus is caused by issues in the kidney, so EMZCW helps by helping the kidney.

Actual pills looks like tiny black spheres like this:
