      Tinnitus Since:
      5/31/19
      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Noise
I read the tympanic membrane engages to protect the ear when anticipating a loud noise.

"The tympanic reflex helps prevent damage to the inner ear by muffling the transmission of vibrations from the tympanic membrane to the oval window. The reflex has a response time of 40 milliseconds, not fast enough to protect the ear from sudden loud noises such as an explosion or gunshot."

I noticed when I push on my right temple (my good ear side) I get a mild vibration - lower in volume but similar sound to when you yawn.

When I push on my left temple (the hearing loss side) it doesn't do that.

      Any thoughts as to why?
