Hi, everyone. I have just joined this forum because I cannot handle not knowing what is wrong.

In 2021, I experienced normal tinnitus with no other symptoms. It lasted from April to July. I was under quite a bit of stress at the time because I was getting married.

In January 2022, while sitting on the toilet around 11 p.m., I suddenly developed ringing in my ear accompanied by dizziness. This lasted for about three months. I found that lying on my left side made it much better. However, because I can only sleep on my left side, I now have pain on the left side of my body. This does not really concern me, though, because the tinnitus episodes are much more distressing.

I saw a doctor, a private ENT specialist, who performed an MRI scan and an ear pressure test. He diagnosed me with Ménière's disease and prescribed anti-sickness medication.

Here is the thing: I can experience symptoms for up to a month, and then they completely disappear, only to return randomly at any time. During these episodes, I cannot work because of the severity of the symptoms.

My symptoms are as follows:
  • Ringing in my right ear only.
  • Dizziness.
  • Both eyes feel as if they are twitching from left to right.
  • Nausea.
Interestingly, the sound of the kitchen tap triggers my ear intensely, but no other sound has the same effect.

I feel absolutely drained whenever it happens, and my episodes typically last around 10 to 15 seconds.

Could this really be Ménière's disease? I do not understand how a doctor could diagnose it so easily.
