After having tinnitus for 3 months, and being better at living with it, I have just put in my Tritton AX720 headset and I was in shock.

I am not totally certain if this is the case but it seems like my brain has been looping the white noise from them and that's where my tinnitus comes from. It has a constant white noise that's is subtle and an even more subtle intermittent rapid bleep blood sound in left ear which is exactly what my tinnitus is.

I'm now kind of anxious as I thought my tinnitus wasn't related to damage to my ears but it appears that this quiet white noise has printed itself into my brain and I may have caused some damage to my ears that might start to show later in life.

Is it unlikely or unheard of to get tinnitus this way? Have you heard of anything similar? Does this mean I have damaged my ears due to noise trauma and if so will it get worse?

I have started wearing Earplugs in noisy environments anyway but never thought until now I had tinnitus due to external noises. Like to hear some opinions and I hope you all had a great Christmas.

I doubt the headset implanted the sound into your brain,if that was the case everyone using white noise generators would be proper screwed by now.

Best guess is that you may have some subtle damage, protect the ears from loud noise and it may go away completely or at least reduce significantly given time.

If I were you, I would avoid all headsets/earbuds/earphones, etc. I have not used my headphones since March, 2016.

Additionally, have you been to an ENT?
