I just want to share that I've had tinnitus for 10 years or so. Most of that time it's ignorable, but when not, anxiety follows almost instantly. Usually when waking in the morning.

I have been dealing with it the past few days and I just want to say how comforting Tinnitus Talk is! Helps to know I'm not alone.

Have to admit Xanax helps, but not a cure or anything I want to take on regular basis.

      Idiopathic
When my tinnitus gets louder it ramps up my anxiety levels which causes my blood pressure to rise - raised anxiety & blood pressure seems to then make tinnitus worse so a vicious circle.

Yesterday was one of those days, but fortunately I feel a lot better today. Saturdays are normally 'good' days for me regarding tinnitus as it's a non working day so less stressful, but yesterday was an exception.

I know that circle! Mine is much worse when I'm not busy, since it's all I can hear!! Xanax helps reduce the anxiety, but I only use it when it's at it's worst. It quiets the ringing!

      I m the same way.

And I hear it because I am thinking about it. I think about it so I hear it. A viscous cycle like you said.

Does anyone hear it while watching TV or listening to music?

I have a question. How often CAN you ignore it? For me it has gotten to a point where I can't unless I get very busy.

And then if I take a break or something and then I start hearing it even when I get busy.

Same for me. If I'm around other people or involved in something I can almost ignore. Laying in bed is the worst! When I use a mouth guard it does lessen somewhat in morning..Hoping they find a cure soon!! My friends friends go hearing aids and his is completely gone now!!

      Nana99,
You are definitely not alone. I also feel instant anxiety when I'm aware of my tinnitus. How are you doing today?
