      Hello Tinnitus Talk community!

I recently underwent surgery and my doctor prescribed Vicodin to mitigate the pain (which is really bothering me right now, making it difficult to sleep and operate functionally). The course should only last for 5-6 days (until the pain become more manageable) but I have read of the opioids effect on GABA receptors and I'm afraid I'll be left with more intrusive tinnitus when I stop.

Anyone want to share any experience with short term use of opioids and the effect that had on their tinnitus?

      Thanks!

      OxyContin improved the ringing temporarily.

@Brian P, did it have any long lasting effects on your baseline?

Nope. Worked for as long as the medication lasted which was 2 days.
