Hi all,

I took a fall two weeks ago and hurt my back. The muscles became tense and sore, and it was very difficult to move for the first few days. I'm now mostly recovered, but I still have a lot of stiffness and tension that I'm working through.

On the first day, I took 2400 mg of Advil across 24 hours, but then I remembered there were some reports of Advil making tinnitus worse, so I stopped. Since the fall and that dose, however, my tinnitus has been a lot worse. It sounds more piercing, and I feel it more as a pressure in my ears than usual.

I'm really hoping this is only temporary and related to the muscle injury, but I am worried that I may have permanently made it worse with the Advil.

So my questions are:

Has anyone experienced a tinnitus spike just from physical injury or muscle tension?

Do you think a 2400 mg daily dose of Advil could have permanently made my tinnitus worse?

My guess is that this is temporary, as we are talking about a high dose for one day rather than over time.

Time will tell. Give it another two to six weeks, and try not to think the worst. I believe there is a good chance it will calm down to baseline again.
