  • Why am I such a severe case? I never attended concerts or parties. I can't believe i have to suffer for the next 40-50 years. Oh my god
    Pinhead
That's the worst part. It's not 50 years of "living", it's 50 years of enduring actual physiological acoustic torture every second.
I'm not sure I can keep going. I'm trying to distract myself with everything. It just getting worse and worse. Pink noise don't help anymore
I feel absolutely the worst since the trauma onset 7 or 8 months ago. Absolutely catastrophic. My head hurts so much. Especially inner ears
Last 2 days my ears hurt more than usual, ringing is louder. Something is broken and I'll never know that. A nerve? Hair cells? A muscle?
Dysacusis is completely gone but T is 9/10 and it's been like this for a week. So probably a new norm for me. Gonna habituate again

@_Shoto_ Wow I still have mine after one year! How did yours go?
Can I print out articles from Wikipedia and give them to my neurologist? Is that rude? I just know he knows nothing but I need meds from him
    kingsfan
I would look for academic papers rather than wikipedia. Would be more convincing.

Hi @kingsfan I don't think this is a better choice tbh. The general info should be very short and in 2-3 sentences. Doctors won't read more than that, plus the words should be very common and easily understandable. It took me 10 mins to explain hyperacusis to nurse practitioner :c

Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, as we have seen history articles being revised to fit certain narratives recently.
My dysacusis and diplacusis are gone after one week. Fuck smoke alarms. I genuinely thought this was my new reality. I'm so happy! So happy!
20 years of Susan's life is my last hope for a better life, or a life at all. I swear, she is like a God to me. I'm in so much pain rn
Can some one tell me here why I decided to open that semi-plastic salad box without ear protection? I had earmuffs 5 feet away from me...why
Well. It's been less than 2 hours since I opened that damn salad and now I can hear my tinnitus spike. Both ears. Very unpleasant waves...
I will never go to kitchen without double protection ever again lmao. So far no worsening, but "81" is still too loud, even if it's just sec
Opened the salad that was packaged in a semi-plastic container. The sound was 81db according to smartwatch. Felt like 200. I almost fainted
My local Walmart has speakers on every entrance and they are set to 112-125 decibels according to my smartwatch AND my db meter from Amazon
    RunningMan
My Walmart has them near at least one entrance. It will be playing music sometimes, but I don't always notice it, so maybe it's not even playing a lot of the time. It seems a little loud but not near that level.

    Try supplements it might help
    Varda
Talk to a lawyer about filing a claim against Walmart for having the speakers set to unsafe levels.
Just found out about Diplacusis. It has four types. I think I have Diplacusis binauralis or Diplacusis dysharmonica. I'm not sure lol

Too bad that absolutely NO doctor in the world (or at least USA) has ever heard of this condition, so again I'm on my own. Ugh. So fkng tired
Dysacusis is very irritating. I hope I'll get used to it just like I got used to hyperacusis and tinnitus. Barely got used to but accepted
Trying to enjoy small things because enjoying big things is no longer possible for me lol. Bought ice cream for $4 instead of usual $2.99
Nurse practitioner in my family doc office asked to remove earplugs and then screamed in my ear. I have no words but I'm not surprised lol
I'm gladly want to announce that now I'm officially diagnosed with dysacusis in my left ear. Credits to smoke alarm with 120(!) decibels yay
    GG_Ear
So sorry to hear that. How would you describe your dysacusis? I hear a high-pitched tone/whistle/beep that overlays certain external sounds. Cars passing me on the street and driving on the motorway are the worst. I have to wear earplugs to stop it. But when I talk with earplugs in I hear the tone/whistle/beep over my speech.

Hi @GG_Ear I have the exact same thing. High-pitched wind sound in my left ear. It's pretty noticable even when I'm just walking or touching something. Earplugs help but only by 70% :(
I feel absolutely the worst. Probably cuz of 16 mg methylprednisolone. Ears hurt. Everything is disturbing my ears. Hopefully it's temporary
Less than a year ago I was a fully abled person with *okayish* future. I had everything. I lost everything. And will continue to loose all.
My T will be getting worse in the future no matter what I do and how much I protect. These thoughts are really heavy. The truth hurts.
Going to PCP tomorrow to get referred to neurologist. I hope PCP will prescribe extra methylprednisolone for as needed basis. They won't tho
My good ear got dysacusis. And all of this because of 3 seconds smoke alarm in a next room. Took methylprednisolone rn. 3 days later. 8mg
My faint wind tone in left ear is still raging up. I hate it so much. I can't sleep. Fuck fire alarms above 100 decibels. 75 is enough!
Half a day after smoke alarm and so far my tinnitus is only 10% worse. Left ear got a new tone that's not that loud but still...I feel angry
I'll unplug all smoke alarms in my new apartment I don't give a fuck. Holy shit how much pain I feel rn in my ears. Like lava inside of them
I'm not eligible for SSI disability support and never will be. That means I'm stuck to 100% being homeless in the future. What a nice day...
Mom triggered smoke alarms and now my ears in pain. I'm crying. This was the only time when I was not in my headphones/earplugs. Crying
