My tinnitus is definitely at the higher end of the spectrum in terms of tone, and when it rages hard, it seems my high-end hearing is super-sensitive (i.e., I can hear car brakes on TV when others cannot). It is maskable in the shower (thankfully).
In the 20 years I have had tinnitus, I have...
You aren't alone... I'm an over thinker too...
My onset was in 2004 after a loud night at a club, which was usual for me. But the guy who drove me home had his car stereo turned up so bad that my one ear was completely muffled the next day.
A few days later, I had a hearing test, and when...
I was borderline about a year ago with my TSH level (9-10), but it has been slowly increasing over the years.
The past 6 months I have noticed my tinnitus has gotten more intense, like a spike that does not resolve and then another spike makes it worse. I have read there is some correlation...
I typically check electronics and other any new electrical equipment when I first get it for hidden hazards (i.e. coil noise/noisy switching transformers) before using them around me.
Last Friday, I hooked up a camera I was repairing (never had a noise issue with it) to my old LCD monitor (also...
My rule is to try and fly Business Class as much as possible, middle section (if a widebody) on an aisle. Windows are more noisy.
And I also found on many aircraft, to avoid the first row or two... as the fuselage there is narrower, thus getting more of the breaking through the air (rushing) sound.
Older thread... but new victim.
On holidays/work trip overseas, at the check-in desk they had a ultrasonic humidifier or something similar about 8 feet away from me. When I was directly beside it, I got blasted with high frequency static in my right ear, overall the sound in the lobby was not...
@Gabriel5050, yeah, I did not end up taking Prednisone, but ended up with a muffled left ear again this morning after accidentally letting an old vintage computer (Commodore 64) slide off a box from a height of about half a metre onto a wooden floor (in an empty room as I am moving) last night...
Thanks for the reply Johan82.
In the past I have used Prednisone, I had some quiet days, and some bad days. In the end, I think I almost went back to baseline but never fully. There has been an overall negative trend in my tinnitus over the past few years it seems.
Maybe I had panic attacks...
I was already suffering a big tinnitus spike after illegal fireworks (semi-commercial) in my neigbourhood a few weeks ago (Wednesday night wedding)... I was inside but close enough to the windows that it brought on a big spike.
Yesterday, a family member left the back sliding door open, when...
I feel ya... especially now when guys like to get them (de-)tuned to make the gurgling and popping noise. I never knew backfires and early detonation were so cool... it's not.
Been a bad week...
Monday, completed 20+ hours of air travel (protected myself best I could).
Tuesday, accidentally hitting the panic button on my rental car while I was standing beside it.
Friday things seemed quieter.
And now this morning I'm spiking worse than ever... Only two events come...
Thanks for the reply. Up until the fall I had used them willy-nilly if I had a spike. But not high dosage, like maybe 15 mg for a few days, 10 mg for a few, 5 mg, 2.5 mg and decided it probably wasn't good for me. I did get days of silence even on those types of doses.
Unfortunately, I don't...
Long story short... I went to an ENT 2 days ago to check my right ear after I pulled on it (with some pain) a few weeks ago... I told him my hearing was better out my left ear. He said "that's odd as the left ear is full of wax"... He pulled out a piece about 2cm long (manually). That ear felt...
