I'm so sorry, @coffeegirl, it could be exactly what happened to me: the steroids only temporarily stop the tinnitus, once their done I got very sick, had to go to emergency. You need to see an ENT asap and have your hearing tested as well...

Strange how these sensations/sounds suddenly come and go. Like a mystery show. I'm the reluctant star of a movie I can not leave physically. But there are options to exit mentally.
