Don't miss the opportunity to attend Tinnitus Quest's online Q&A with Dr. Susan Shore and Jon Pearson, CEO of Auricle on October 13. We will hear the latest about the Susan Shore Device.
My Tinnitus has woken me up for nine years. Every night, I have gone days with loud hissing all day until I sleep. Now, I can listen to the hissing throughout the day and forget about it when im busy, and it doesn't bother me as much as it used to. I can wake up to the loud ringing and fall back to sleep. I wake up again about an hour later but fall asleep again
I just went to the ATA website to look at it as I generally pay no attention to what they say but I saw they have an app called SoundPrint where people report the dB level of places. I'm definitely going to be using it from now on.
@Karolina Well might isn't mild, and it's a mental challenge every day. I believe it depends on an individual's mental strength. If you're mentally strong, you can cope better than someone who isn't.
I think it's more complex than that. Level of T, H/N additionally and environmental factors all contribute to how someone copes with this. Not mental strength; it's hard when some are hearing 80dB+ in their ears. I don't blame them if they're suffering.
Also if you have something like OCD, like myself, habituation gets shadowed over sometimes by hyperfocus. I think it's personal & unique for all in how they can cope.
