25F New to the Club (Unfortunately): Begging for Advice and Support

Hello and welcome to the club that nobody wants to be a member of. I have been part of it for over 33 years, so I know quite a bit. I saw many hopeful signs in what you shared. First, you wear earplugs at concerts. That should reduce your sound exposure by at least 20 decibels, bringing it...

New University of Michigan Tinnitus Discovery — Signal Timing

With all due respect, you're mostly wrong. You're right, the FDA doesn't regulate who a company can raise money from, only how the device is marketed. So, private fundraising from accredited investors is fine, but public crowdfunding that promotes or pre-sells an unapproved device would likely...

NAC May Have Helped My Hearing Loss, Although It Definitely Gave Me High-Frequency Tinnitus

If you do try it, let us know how it goes. I’ve been taking Liposomal Glutathione, which is said to be the compound that makes NAC effective for hearing loss. I’ve found that, in this form, it doesn’t seem to have a negative effect on my tinnitus.

The Ringing Has No Mercy: Ten Years of Loud Tinnitus, Struggling to Habituate

I’m new here and just wanted to express my deepest sympathy for everyone suffering from tinnitus. Mine started nearly ten years ago for idiopathic reasons, as I don’t have much measurable hearing loss. My ENT mentioned there could be hidden hearing loss that can’t be picked up on routine tests...

25F New to the Club (Unfortunately): Begging for Advice and Support

I use noise-cancelling headphones on flights, and they work quite well at reducing airplane cabin noise, which is a fairly low-frequency sound.

Sudden Left Ear Whirring, Clogged Sensation, and Anxiety After Earphone Use

Hi everyone, I’ve been a lurker here for a few months, but I’m posting now. (Sorry, this is a long one.) I’m a 31-year-old woman, and I first noticed around January or February that one of my in-ear headphones was slightly quieter than the other. I assumed it was just the headphones acting up...

Am I More Susceptible to Further Hearing Damage Compared to Someone without Hearing Loss?

I’ve gotten worse after 10 years of diligently wearing NRR 33 earplugs in environments above 75-80 dB.

Pulsatile Tinnitus Spike After Hairdryer Exposure at Hairdresser

I was so tired of all the doctors saying there was nothing that could be done. I needed to know if something was clogged. Two days ago, I went to the emergency room because the pulsing sound was terrible. They ended up giving me a scan from my head down to the bottom of my neck. I figured, I’m...

New University of Michigan Tinnitus Discovery — Signal Timing

With all due respect, and just to clarify, the FDA doesn’t control private fundraising or investment. They only regulate the marketing and sale of unapproved devices. So, a company can accept funding from investors before approval; it’s only public promotion or selling that’s restricted. It’s...

Tinnitus of Over 18 Months Disappeared Completely for 2 Months

I developed unilateral tinnitus in 2024 for no apparent reason. My hearing is excellent, and the ENT gave me a clean bill of health. A few weeks later, the other ear became affected, and in the following days and weeks, I developed middle ear myoclonus (ear rumbling and buzzing), teeth...
